In my work I seek to involve the viewer. There is a base connection we have to the human form, even in it's generalized or abstracted form. Interest in this connection is what has caused most changes in how I approach images. Over time I have opted for texture over detail as a way to describe of the figure. I enjoy anonymity due to the way it encourages interpretation. To me, concealing the identity of figures and environments is an invitation to the viewer. This is where the involvement comes in. | Rick Wedel The more I can narrow my range of visual options, the clearer the image becomes. In narrowing the field of single figure images, I have begun finding variations of closed poses - crouching figures. I enjoy the overall shape the figure takes in poses such as this. |
