Tara Cochrane is an American visual artist. Originating in Gainesville, Florida, Tara has been creating visual art including fashion design, mixed media collage, sculpture, and photography since a young age, and maintains a lifelong commitment to the creative process. Tara focuses primarily on acrylic painting and enjoys working on large canvases. Her unique style incorporates abstract expressionism, fantasy and surrealism. Tara Cochrane
This piece was inspired by a book I read called "Japanese Death Poems" which records the tradition of zen monks and haiku poets writing a final poem on their deathbeds. It had many of these "death poems" from over the centuries. I was impressed by the simlicity and boldness of this rich literary tradition. The chord it stuck in me fueled the passionate, emotional quality of this painting.
The parts which appear tawny brown are actually copper metallic, which gives the painting a different appearance depending on the lighting situation.
