million stories are an eclectic mix of Funk, Soul, and Rock that dares anyone to place them in a defining genre. Pulling from their roots in Jazz, Rock, Funk, Hip-Hop, and love of pop music, they have forged their own sound. Groove heavy Neo-Soul with powerfully sexy vocals that sling catchy and clever songs. Guaranteed to make your head bob and have you singing along. In December of 2004, Brent Marley, Jason White, and Alex Biko found themselves without a singer and lot of fans that were disappointed with the demise of their former Texas touring band, Illcamino. Wire Entertainment, headed up by longtime friend Tony Jones, urged them to start a new project. With unheard of luck, they found soulful vocalist Tameca Jones on their first audition. While she had little experience, her creativity and captivating voice hooked them instantly. Later they would learn that a degree in English was one of her tools in writing brilliant lyrics. They were determined to conceive of a style that represented their truest musical loves. Realizing they would need to have a keyboardist, Brent and Alex called on former band mate, Robert Belt. His unique approach to the Fender Rhodes helped fuse the sound which is 8 million stories. Three months later, they played three unofficial shows during SXSW. They were received well and were asked to open for The Smithereens, at the world famous Antone???s in their hometown of Austin, Texas. Having penned many songs, 8MS are in the process of recording their first album. Having recorded the self titled Illcamino release with the Vallejo Music Group (VMG), there was no question but to ask Omar Vallejo to produce them. VMG???s immense experience with record labels has resulted in amazing results. January 15th is the release date it will be followed with a video and dates with Vallejo, Overlord, and John Pointer. With out an album to support, 8MS have not had much press. They have mostly marketed themselves on the internet, with user favorite myspace.com and their own website eightmillionstories.com it is currently receiving a major facelift. The Fox morning show hosted their first T.V. appearance. They also performed on the KLBJ morning show, with Dudley and Bob. ???8 million stories pack a punch with strong vocals backed up by inventive instrumentation and a rockin??? groove,??? says Loris Lowe, Music Director for KLBJ-FM. 8MS has continues to gig heavily in Austin and has started to move around Texas. Most often they can be found at The Lucky Lounge, home to many of Austin???s great artists. ???It???s a pleasure to have them [8MS] play at the Lounge,??? Will Muntz, owner of the Lucky Lounge. 8MS puts on an impressive show. Minus Tameca, all the guys have played in bands together for the last 7 years. Musically this makes them a very tight outfit. All the musicians have been playing since their childhood and each have studied music academically. This is apparent by the quality of improvisation in their set. Tameca Jones is one gifted entertainer. Not only will her vocals give you chill bumps, her lyrics will make you think, and her banter will laugh you out of your seat. Their songs are a result of a total collaboration., designed to be unique and to make sure you cannot resist grooving. Tameca???s lyrics are very inventive and totally original. 8 millions stories songs are tough to categorize. If you love music you will be extremely satisfied. After Completion of their album, 8MS intends to start shopping for a record label. They are hoping a spot in SXSW will help put them in front of the people that will make this happen. 8 Million Stories is an eclectic mix of Funk, Rock, and Soul that dares anyone to place them in a defining genre.
