The BlueGirl project is a creative business idea combining music, visual art, animation and fashion. My aim is to deliver music with an accompanying animated story that is striking, divergent and cutting edge, bypassing the major labels to release music under my own label, BlueGirl Records. Five years ago I came up with the idea for BlueGirl Records after an interesting experience with a small independant. I released my track 'Lily Hall' with this independant and whilst they did some good stuff like getting the track played on Radio One, and getting a distribution deal, we didn't see any financial gain. The independant dissapeared and I decided that the next track I released was going to be on my own record label. Lily Hall went on to be licensed to Azuli Records for the Kid Loco album, 'Another late night mix,' under the BlueGirl Records label. It's sold over 1500 copies and now I want to repeat and better that success. Future plans are to develop the BlueGirl range, launching BlueGirl Couture, BlueGirl Handbags and BlueGirl Boots. I believe that The BlueGirl Project stands out. As a multi-faceted business idea it has massive potential and as an artistic project it is an advocate for graphic art at its best. It is an ensemble effort, ever evolving and in the process of locating, utilising and collaborating with creatives within the various artistic disciplines to create music, art and fashion that sounds, looks and feels great!
